I saw them at Patrick, but they were ghosting glass minnows; fun to watch, but that's about it.

My son caught an estimated 40-42" snook on the 4th, silver 1.5oz gator spoon. Random bait pod finger mullet came down the beach. Thing was a beast.

awesome I tried making a few casts off 4th south in CB and could not make a retrieve without some really fine reddish brown slimy weeds on the knots and lure, tried behind taco city and same thing

Yea, it was pretty churned up at the Streets yesterday......
But the day before my wife saw a woman pull a 30"+ snook out at 2nd South.

Snook fishing is so much more productive than tarpon fishing. Any time you catch a snook on a Kroc or gator spoon it's thrilling.

you guys really have me re-thinking my notion that silver spoons are bluefish lures!

Was down on the beach Monday and got a nice size mackerel on a silver spoon and my neighbor got a slob snook while bottom fishing for pompano. They're still out there. I seem to always catch my biggest snook this time of year on the beach, usually with spoons around the bait pods.

One of the biggest snook I ever caught at The Inlet was on a big Gator spoon with a circle hook while tarpon fishing. The thing looked like it belonged in Costa Rica.

My dad used to bump Hopkins spoons along the bottom at Inlet for big Reds back in the 50's. I still use a pink 3oz Gator for when the Reds are feeding on crabs.

tried throwing a plug off CB and 2nd light, same little reddish brown filament/weeds. Saw some fresh turtle tracks at da light looked like it made it up the "mini sand cliff/tide line" but did not appear to have laid anything from the tracks etc. which was odd.

Yesterday ( Wed. 7/29 ) Early AM There were 10-15 boats all ganged up very near shore just south of the pier. Any guess on what they are after?

I'd guess trying to cast net pogies, seems a little late for the spanish macs to still be there.

IHB was blowing up with tarpon this past weekend along with schools of bonita. The tarpon looked to be hitting hitting glass minnows and mullet but the bonita were all about the glass minnows. Launched the kayak off the beach all I got was one bonita.

The true highlight was me helping a lady back to the beach. I picked her up as I paddled back in. I told her, "do you realize how far out you are"? She said, "I'm fine." I told her you've already drifted farther away from me and we've only talked for 15sec, and you're "fine." I said, "grab the back of my kayak and hold on, I'm getting you back to shore." Come to find out she was a drunk as a sailor. I can tell you it was an interesting conversation on the paddle back.

You might have just saved her life in more ways than one. There are people who drink, then do dumb things and there are people who drink to get the nerve to end it all. Either way, good job!
