I have a nice clumper, about 5 or so years old. Its the orange crown type and has 6 or 8 stalks, about 2-3 feet tall in a pot. Nice palm but I really have no room for it and would like to find it a good home. Would love to have some different types of banana pups or heliconia if anyone is interested. In N. Ive had a theory where the tree is tired from last year but a slow season is one thing and no mangos is another

McGee’s bromeliad gardens are open again for wandering around (no formal tours) and plants will be offered for sale at token prices. Lots of mystery plants await discovery when they bloom.

Central Florida Palm & Cycad Society

The Darnalls are a true inspiration -- they successfully grow about 75 species of mostly mature palms, plus a wide variety of tropical vines, shrubs and flowers in open and semi-wooded areas that typically experience one to three freezes a year. They also have a combination greenhouse-shade house for plant propagation and over-wintering of tender container species.

We will tour the property and learn some of Walt's secrets, enjoy a picnic lunch, auction off rare and/or unusual plants, then travel about 10 minutes to a three acre sub-tropical peninsula on the northeast end of Lake June. On view will be Cocos nucifera, Ravenea rivularis, Hyophorbe verschaffeltii, Pandanus utilis, plus several bird aviaries.

Here is the schedule:

10:00 a.m. Board meeting

11:00 a.m. Meeting begins

12:15-1:30 p.m. Lunch on-site

1:30-2:00 p.m. Auction

2:00-2:30 p.m. Plant sale

About 2:30: leave for tour of the Lake June property guided by Walt.

The main course, potato salad, dessert and drinks will be provided. Please bring a side dish to pass. And a chair, too, if you can. Non-members are welcome to join us.

I got this palm in a pot of King Palm seedlings that I purchaed at one of the great plant sales that are held in the area from time to time. I think I aquired it about 4 years ago.............from CFLDave. It was only after transferring the seedlings in to pots and seeing them get their leaves that I knew I had something different. It is a nice surprise..............I am thinking it is a Dypisis of some sort. It is very happy in the place I planted it ( a year and a half ago) and is really taking off......Thanks in advance - and Thanks CFL Dave!

Almost there. They are still too tart. Trying to beat the squirrels off the tree though is a full time job. Bird netting going up soon once I get an open time to do it.

dollar weed control/elimination

My front yard was almost totally covered with dollar weed. Tried many different control methods. Last week I applied 2,4-D Amine. There is not a single live leaf showing this AM. This stuff is awesome though it did not do much on some of the other weeds. My yard is Zoyzia. I could not find it locally but was able to get it at Amazon, it was about $40 for enough to cover an acre or two. Aloha! Bob

I want to find some Coquina stones to make a border in my yard. Do you know where I could find some cheap/free? What do they do with all the Coquina that washes up on the beach in Brevard? Can the public take a rock or two? Anyone have any ideas?

For Sale, BROMELIADS, rare variety, very large, Satellite Beach

FOR SALE = VERY RARE VARIETY of BROMELIADS called Aechmea Bracteata and they are native to Columbia to Mexico. I call them little shop of horrors as they have that look. I'm a private grower/collector. These are very large and are a year round landscape focal center piece show piece. These had just started to bloom, blooms last for most of the year. After bloom they will pup out and you will always have more in your collection. I've had this variety for the past 15 years now. Once ever other year or so I have a handful available for sale. Almost no care or maintenance needed. The only place I've seen these is at the Vero Beach Jungle Gardens aside from the ones I've provided.

I left Singapore last week and the alphonse were starting to show up......Surprisingly, these were a bit bland - maybe too early..... I have had them before in the middle east and they were really, really good.
