How is everyone doing with today's deluge of rain? I have flooding in my backyard that I don't recall ever seeing since I've lived here. Will post some photos tomorrow. I think several more inches of rain and it would have entered the house.

The 9:30 rainfall figures from the National Weather Service (over at Surfing) were extreme.  Right now (1 am Monday) I hear an FEC train going by, so presumably their tracks are above water.

 

The drains a couple houses over form my home were overflowing to the extent that I was standing on top of one and was almost knee deep in water. Like I said, standing in top. If I had been standing in the street it would've been near mid thigh. Insane. I've never seen it in the 18 years I've lived beachside. Took me over two hours to find a route home to my house off desoto from publix in Indian harbor.

Several more inches and I would have had some issues with water entering our screened in patio. Should be interesting the next 7-10 days, high rain chances and possible development of another system in the gulf.

Flooded. Hopefully people are smart enough to turn off their automatic sprinklers.

And conserve water. They are asking that you use as little water as possible for showers, flushing toilets, laundry, etc. as the sewer systems are overwhelmed.

Might have round two of heavy rain. The tropical wave heading west across South Florida is estimated to bring several inches of rain to brevard and what could be Nate which NHC is forecasting a cat 1 with landfall around Pensacola on Sunday. Hoping the cone does not shift east.

Will it never end? What's next? Locusts? I guess frogs would be more likely, though. As long as we don't get to taking first born sons, I guess we can handle it (although I am getting damned tired of it!).

I have a neighbor who's sprinklers were on in the middle of the hurricane up to the point his power went out. They were on for 8 hours during the flooding rain we got Sunday. They were on again in the rain we got yesterday all day.

7 days a week, 8 hours a day.... his sprinklers are on.

miker - Where do you live? Report him to Code Enforcement. That is illegal. Don't give up; he can be cited and fined.

Have you considered talking to your neighbor about it? It's frustrating to see folks overwatering but I wouldn't rat out a neighbor without talking with him first.

I agree and should have suggested that, but, I would bet that somebody who is watering as his neighbor is is unlikely to be receptive. He/she has to know that he/she is not watering responsibly (let alone legally).

Code enforcement won't touch it. I didn't call them to report him, but I did call them to enquirer about where violations should be reported. St. John's river water management district is the answer for unincorporated brevard.
