While driving home my wife and i heard a "boing" sound exactly like a spring!! And stuff hitting the plastic dash!! Yep when the pods open!!! You know it!!! May look into germination of a seed.. "Plunk your magic tagger froggy" tree is appropriate.. ------------------------- BurrysBreak Inflation caused The BIG BANG...look it up!

ww Posts: 16097 Joined Forum: 08/17/2007	They're cold sensitive. We have some fairly big ones in Vero. Common in PR and Hawai'i. In fact, a pest in Hawai'i. Sandbox trees (Hura crepitans) are even more explosive. They've gone wild in Miami. Long ago, the crescent-shaped woody segments, "moonies," were necklace items.

Karma Posts: 8028 Joined Forum: 01/26/2005	I believe a pest in PR as well. They root easily from cutting. I noticed some planted in the easement along A1A recently. I think the City of Sat. Beach planted a few. Hope they take. We need more trees on the beach side. However, the wood is weak and brittle, likely leading to hurricane missiles and projectile debris. ------------------------- If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.

ww Posts: 16097 Joined Forum: 08/17/2007	Satellite Beach is far north for tropicals. Even gumbo limbos froze in 1989's horrible Christmas freeze. But the native trees at Sebastian Inlet State Park offer some suggestions for what might work up there.
