Thoughts?
Any upkeep or high maintenance? Do they drop a lot of leaves? I'm looking for a privacy tree/bush for the 6-8 ft range. ------------------------- I type on fone 99% of time. Let the typos slyde. Thanks |

Seems pretty hardy near the beach in Vero, and near the Indian River in Ft Pierce, where it becomes a small tree. Doesn't seem overly messy, considering the big, thick leaves. |

Thank you. Yes I saw there's been two other threads about it. One guy on here said it's a slow grower. Might try and find out then that's already pretty grown

I have a hedge of it. Growing nicely and doing exactly what I wanted. Surprised to see it has drop roots.
------------------------- If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate. |

The correct/accepted/valid spelling is CLUSIA from the Family CLUSIACEAE.
However, the spelling Clusea is widespread indeed. |

I believe it's Clouseau.

Simpson stopper (Myrcianthes fragrans) is easy to find, can be cut into a formal hedge (!), and is a Brevard native barrier island plant, highly tolerant of spray. It also makes an elegant tall shrub, the size of a medium crape myrtle, with similar interesting bark. Wild olive (Forestiera segregata) is also pretty available, also beach, and takes extremely well to being poodled into whatever shape. Lots of Vero Beach's park topiaries are wild olive. |
