The pH range is from 0 to 14, with 7.0 being neutral. Does anyone know what the soil is on the Barrier Island? Has anyone had their soil tested gotten an actual pH number?

I recently looked at a USGS site and there seems to be a line running north to south around the middle of the island which separated the alkaline east ocean side from an acidic river side on the west of the barrier island. I think the range was something like 6-6.5 on the west and 7.5 plus on the east. I'll try to find the site.

Thanks, Karma. That's a great site!

Looks like I'm Pomello/Canaveral/Palm Beach with slightly acid soil.

The water table info was interesting too, yearly average depth of 33" in my neighborhood.

With the water table so close to the surface, I would think roots don't have to explore that deep for water. Do you think the water table drops during times of drought or is it more influenced by the ocean and river?

The fact that the water table data requires you choose a time period with months, yes I would think it is seasonal. I definitely think the shallow water tables vary with rain and drought.
