Corner of a shot taken to check a telephoto lens, today.

For comparison, a more normal shot from the same spot, Dec. 27.

Both hand held.

The palm is an Archontophoenix tuckeri from Palm Grower.  It's thriving, obviously.  From northeastern Australia, quite limited native range.

Nice pics, is that the same as a king palm?

King palm in general.  The more widespread species are Archontophoenix cunninghamiana (bangalow) and A. purpurea.  A. tuckeri is popular in cultivation but not widespread in the wild.  For some reason, these palms seem to be planted more in southern California than in Florida.

Yet another shot of the same palm from the same spot, Dec. 27.  A leaf had just fallen, exposing the sheath for another bunch of flowers.

great shot of the yard. Kings are awesome palms. I scored a few seeds on my recent trip to PR. Surprised by how little palm diversity there is on the island's public plantings. I'll be starting a pretty diverse nursery ASAP on my farm. Already scored some borassus flabellifer, ptychosperma sp., archontophoenix sp., attalea sp., pritchardia sp., cassia fistula, guanabana, and jack fruit. Luckily, I'm in with the plant people there, so I imagine it won't take long to get going strong.
