Can someone please tell me what kind of ginger this is? I've been calling it pinecone ginger but I'm not sure that is right. Doesn't look like the photos for pinecone ginger online. This is another plant that looks like it has a tendency to take over. I'm trying to figure out whether it has any wildlife or other value to the landscape at all or whether I should just start getting rid of the extras.

I was going to say spiral ginger then clicked on your links, and yup, spiral ginger.

It doesn't look like it has any wildlife value (except that the ants love it) so I have to decide how much to keep.

the buds that pop out of the button or cone have a very sweet nectar and are edible.

Thanks Karma. I read that they are edible and that they have some medicinal qualities. I think they are used for diabetes or something.
