I have some really large pineapple plants that are in too much shade to product fruit. They are about 3 or more years old. If I move them to another location, will they produce fruit now?

Yes. I've moved pineapple from shade to more sun and they finally produced.

Thanks. I might just give them away, since I don't really have a good sunny spot to move them to. Or somebody else suggested putting them in containers. That might work, too.

You can't really kill them. I just pull them up from their roots and move them wherever I think they would fit. They do fruit in shade but do need some sun.

You could plant them where you applied all the roundup.

I'm trying to plant more hummingbird plants where the palmettoes were.
If I keep the pineapples, I might put them in pots. My yard has kind of gone crazy and I am trying to get rid of stuff the easiest way possible. All the things that seemed like a good idea to plant when we first got the property are going crazy now.....like bromeliads. I'm trying to get the yard back to a place where it is manageable. |

I put them in pots for now. What's funny is, these are the largest pineapple plants I have ever grown. Maybe because they were reaching to get sun???
Well over 3' tall. |
