I struck gold Betel Nut seeds (Areca catechu 'golden') and I can't wait to grow these up. Anyone have one or tried them? Awesome looking plant.

That is cool. I had a seedling once and have tried dwarf and regular betal nuts. All died in mild winters. Good Luck! You have that green house that may help for winter.

Its a true tropical. I had one grow in my deep shade for a couple years, but they just melt in cold weather.

I grew a green one from seed. I'm a notoriously bad labeler, and lost track of it. It may still be in the nursery.

smoked enough betel leaves (Sherbidis) in high school in the 80's to make me wonder why I haven't died from lung cancer yet. it is a narcotic. |
