Some Costa Rican calabaza squashes on display at Publix looked like slightly flat pumpkins, sort of brown instead of the usual orange.  They could be mistaken for some heritage French pumpkin.  Sure enough, Calabazas (and butternut squashes) are Cucurbita moschata, a tropical species.  And so is Musque de Provence, one of those French pumpkins.  Johnny's Seeds chart
