I've got one. But, in deep shade and not growing very fast. Its a small palm right now although it is probably ten years old.

They are very pretty if you get them to trunk though.

I have two in (slightly inland) Vero Beach.  They nearly croaked when we had back-to-back bad winters.

They might do well on the south Brevard barrier island.

I've got a couple in IHB, generally not salt tolerant. However they are growing well, albeit without well water on the foliage of the palms. I think the like heavier soil and regular irrigation to look good. Growing in some shade, particularly beachside, would be best. GTC Nursery has some nice big ones in the ground, looking good now that they have several feet of trunk and the leaves are out of the well water. The nursery also has a bunch of full 15 gal sized Satakentia palms for sale.

Happen to know what a 15 gallon sized one goes for? Think it would survive close the river in Cocoa?

They're not cheap. I have them for $150.00 As I advise everyone on this tree, it's 50/50 on the survival rate. I have planted 8 and 4 are still alive. I have found that they like water and they tend to crack at the crownshaft. Mine have survived the cold from a few years back just fine. Frost is another story. Will it grow on the river in Cocoa, probably.

Ww those are some nice palms. How far inland? The salt burn is pretty rough looking.

That's a problem... I applied some epson salts and borax in an attempt to deal with an apparent nutrient problem with the big Archontophoenix at the rear of the photo.  Big mistake.  There's been damage to another Archontophoenix (the closer one), a Simpson stopper, and a couple of coonties (visible near the Satakentias.  I've since cut the leaves).  I think the heavy rains this fall may have straightened things out.  At least nothing's looking worse.

I'm almost exactly 4 miles from the ocean, 2.4 from the Indian River, so the weather data are pretty similar to the airport.

The (very happy) one at Heathcote Gardens in Ft Pierce is also in shade.  Mine will eventually be sheltered by a thriving young live oak.

Interesting that many of the websites list this as a salt tolerant palm. Anyone have any for sale? Seedlings or seeds, even? I'd like to try one.

Karma, got mine from Okie about 2 years and paid a premium price. It's doing great and is my personal favorite. I'm about a mile north of you.

Here's a photo from Dec. 2015.  They suffered some leaf damage in 26º cold five or six years ago.

Thanks BSD. How far off the ocean are you? How did you plant them (i.e. microclimate)? Full sun, wind protection, salt protection??? Just curious. Thanks for the info.

Nice ones ww.

Yeah, I'm sure you're proud of those twins.

Karma, 400 block of Satellite off A1A.  Planted between the back porch and the fence.  Fairly protected from the wind and salt.  Morning sun and late afternoon shade. Planted in a real good compost mix.  Done a lot of spritzing on the fronds but don't think it really needed it.  Started out like ww 2 years ago and now has a foot of clear trunk.
