The Gold Rim Swallowtail or Polydamas Swallowtail (Battus polydamas) is a butterfly of the family Papilionidae. The Gold Rim Swallowtail's host or larval food plants are pipevines. The Gold Rim is the only 'tailless' swallowtail in the United States.

This is one of our first Polydamas that we raised from eggs.  We had a few hatch yesterday but they were outside.  This one emerged inside our butterfly castle.

Cool.
I keep some dill & fennel growing around the yard for these guys. Caterpillar of the black swallowtail. Got probably 20 of them eating up the fennel bed.

Thanks all!  It is a hobby of mine that I just took up a year ago.  I have loads of Monarchs.  I had about 22 emerge in the last month.

The polydamas are a bit more difficult since they I do not have enough pipevines to sustain them yet and they seem to be a little more tempermental when I put them in the butterfly castle, the same goes for the frits.

You are so lucky DangerMouse!  My fennel and dill just have not done as well.  I will definitely try again.
