As the titles states, wondering the best local place to pick up a mango tree for a gift.

TIA

I recommend South Brevard Nursery on Minton Road (corner on Minton & Henry, across from the post office). Better selection than you will find at the box stores, prices are about the same. They just got a delivery of mango trees last week.

They had at least 3 coconut cream mangoes in stock when I stopped by on Tuesday.

I have also found nice mangoes at the HD and Lowes, depends on what variety you are looking for, and looking around for it. Of the HD and Lowes in the Melbourne/Palm Bay area, I think the HD on New Haven and the Lowes on Malabar Road have better selection of mangoes than the HD on Malabar Road and the Lowes on New Haven.

The HD/Lowes usually have Valencia Pride, Haden, Cogshall, Glenn and maybe Po Pyu Kalay (aka Lemon Meringue, I found a nice PPK at the Lowes on Malabar awhile back).

At South Brevard Nursery (not open on Sunday), in addition to the Coco Cream & Mallika, on Tuesday I remember seeing Alphonso, Julie, Ice Cream, Nam Doc Mai #4 (I almost bought one) and more.

It will kinda depend on what variety you are looking for as to where you might find it. But SBN would be my first stop.

Twigs and Berries in T-ville is a good source. Very knowledgeable owner and staff. They have a good website with inventory. Owner was Pres of Brevard Rare Fruit. Good guy and very professional.

02 flow -- PM me.  I can probably help you out with.  I've got one from last year that needs to be moved out and propagated.  Mango flavor is incredible from it's mother -- which was raised by seed from the same.

IIRC it was $30. Guy said it would fruit within a year but to remove all the fruit the first year to allow it to become stronger. It does sound delicious, can't wait to try them!
