I have some new crotons I just bought and I noticed some of them have round nodules on some of the trunks. ALOT of nodules all up and down it. Some of the crotons have it and some don't so I assume it is a problem. Any ideas of what it might be or how to treat it?

Those are green mealybugs. The stupid box stores introduced a bunch of croton infested with it..

Get some volck oil spray and soak them down top to bottom in the evening. That will kill them, then spray em hard with a hose a day or two later.

If any are left in a week, do it again.

That will fix it

I noticed Rockledge Gardens had some problems with mealy and scale in their bamboo. If it's in their bamboo, it's probably in other places. Don't mean to bad mouth anyone, as I like RG in general, but just stating the facts.

Mealybugs have gotten to the point in Brevard where its just part of gardening now. The easier ones like green mealybug on croton can be controlled with volck oil/perhaps even soap or coffee grounds and a hard hose spraying.

The tough ones like pink hibiscus mealy bug can infest the soil and require a longer term plan using a systemic.. or a serious helluva alot of coffee.
