Please follow the link and sign the petition if you can support this cause...

This is only about allowing a resident to raise a limited number of chickens or rabbits for personal use.

I don't mean to ride the "High Horse". but it bugs the crap out of me that in many neighborhoods a citizen can own Parrots, multiple dogs (I have a dog), multiple cats (we have one rescue cat), large snakes, large reptiles, or any number of invasive species, but NO CHICKENS!

There is a new trend with self sustainability...we should be allowed to grow our own veggies or harvest our own eggs for personal use.

BTW-Chicken poo makes great compost...dog and cat poo, not so much.

Happy new year!

thanks ograbac...it's a pretty simple form to fill out.

You don't have to own chickens or live in Brevard. It's still a worthy movement.

I don't know if you caught it, but I sent you some chicken info on the "Rooster needs a home" thread...in most situations its doable.

I'm not sure what the homeowner's associate would say...

But I'd love to have fresh eggs.

Done. I have been seriously considering getting a couple of hens. Not sure if the extra work would be worth it though.

Not a lot of work when you get the hang of it...chickens are easy.

You guys beachside are on it. A few comments from the petition page...

We will all have to one day return to at least a partial agrarian society. Why not begin the transition now, so that it is not such an abrupt and painful process when it becomes necessary. Thanks!

It's a God given right to be able to provide for yourself and your family. Chickens lay many eggs without roosters so my neighborhood would be quiet.

I thought this was a free country? We have less freedom than Iraqis when it comes to owning livestock.
Satellite beach (one of our own perhaps?)

Saw where Orlando is starting a trial program for allowing chickens in residential back yards.

Maybe Brevard/Palm Bay will take notice.

I read that about orlando, good for them. I also found it interesting that they have Urban Chicken programs in Los Angeles, NYC, and Chicago...looking forward to this trend in Brevard.
