PHILIPPINE - JAKARTA - MALLIKA
Jakarta is the capital of the country of Indonesia. But the Jakarta mango is a Florida mango that was developed by Lawrance Zill of Boynton Beach, Florida from a cross possibly between a Zill mango and a Kent mango. Philippine is a mango from the islands of the Philippines. Mallika is a premier mango from India. #27 |

Jakarta is pretty good, but it can sometimes have a strange flavor to it if it is not perfectly ripe.
Mallika is really good. Its near the end of mango season for Florida. Overall this year has been pretty good for me. I've been eating a mango a day. I'm just about over them though. This happens every summer for me. That is why I recommend people to plant early mango. It is nice to have late season mango, but if you experience being exposed to a lot of mango, when it gets late season the novelty wears off. Still taste good of course. But, you get tired of cutting it up and eating. I've got a lot in the freezer for off-season mango eating. I'll probably start jonesing for mango after a couple weeks of not eating them, so the frozen mango cures that! Mango smoothies for Christmas! |

My Kent is about to overwhelm me. Loaded. It's just now about to drop them and I'll just eat and eat and burn myself out. Got a treat this year (after a non productive year last year) with the super warm winter the tree bloomed twice and got some early ones. I need to plant one for early season to spread it out some. ------------------------- |

This is from the ag center "Do not compost infected plant material because your compost pile may not be hot enough to kill the fungal spores."
