is this the time for massive spring fertilizing? There is no chance of another cold front is it? And what's the opinion on fertilizers' middle number? Do we need it?

It's time for fertilizing.  Go easy from June-Sept.  Orlando and other cities forbid lawn fertilizer with phosphorus (the second number).

With the rain yesterday and more rain in the forecast later this week it may be a good time. Make sure you can water the fertilizer in well. The April/May drought is coming up and you don't want any pooled fertilizer in the soil as it can burn roots.

Check out GardensAlive.com, I've used the WOW on my lawn for the past three years. I like the results and it's all natural, safe for kids and pets. They have a sale going on now, buy 3 bags get 1 free. It does put off a slight manure smell for a week or so.

I threw out a few pounds this afternoon right before it rained. It looks like a good chance of rain on Thursday as well. typically, you don't want to fertilize before a rain, as it runs off. But, in my case, I don't have a sprinkler system and rely on rain. I fertilize very lightly and mostly want to add the micro-nutrients in the soil. Tonight I used a 8-4-8 with minors. Not enough nitrogen to burn and I spread it real thin. Hopefully that doesn't curse any chance of more rain for Thursday!

I like the over-an-inch of rain I got today!

1/2" of rain yesterday for me. Not bad for April. I'll take it. But, I doubt we see anymore rain for the next two months.
