Such a beautiful tree, but I've never seen one bloom around here. Does anyone know anything about them? I was thinking of planting one or two along my street.

I had one...just died from mushroom root rot I believe. I know mine shed all its foliage for the winter.

I'd really like to know if anyone has heard or experienced problems with this guy disrupting plumbing.

Had one in my yard as a kid. Hurricane David took half of it and it was never really the same after. I lived along I-95 and people would knock on the door and ask to take pictures of it. It never hurt the plumbing, the ficus won that battle. It died and was removed 5 years ago.

I plan to put one or two in along pinetree in IHB, around the Norfolks and Palms. They will keep it from looking to barren in the winter. Ive seen one or two pictures where they are close to royal poincianas, both in bloom. Seems pretty cool. Surprised I haven't seen any (that I recall) around melbourne.

I've tried to grow them here, they didnt do too well, and I dont recall them ever blooming.. if it did, it wasnt much.

I recall that it just had a lanky spindly look to it, nothing like how I've seen them look in other states (like the photo above)

doesnt hurt to try though

Indian River Hospital on 37th street in Vero has several, along the east side of the driveway, between the hospital and the free visitor's parking lot.  Beautiful trees.

Theres more around here than you think. This spring was the best bloom Ive ever seen around here. The color`s so light it blends into the surroundings if the suns not just right on it. Saw trees this year I didnt even know were there, mostly down Tropical Trail. Beautiful trees.

Cool, I imagine the cold had something to do with a good bloom this year. I wish I would have caught it. I will have to check Tropical Trail next Spring. If Coconuts is correct, then it's probably not a good tree for me.

I have one planted near my driveway pad.   It gives really nice shade to park your car under.   However,  it is a dirty tree-drops leaves in the winter,  drops flowers,  is rather brittle so tropical force winds could snap branches.   Mine is young and has not flowered yet but suspect it will bloom next year.  They are really beautiful,  awesome color,  but be prepared for allot of debris.   Also not so sure about how cold hardy they are.  I think mine was spared from the cold last year because of where I had it planted.
