Was a memorable experience, leaving the ramp at 4 AM, watching twlight fill the horizon as the bait bite really turned on just before sunrise. We had more than our well could support.
Our goal was to limit out on Muttons, as word was out. Good thing we brought frozen sardines. They only played around with the goggles, and we couldn't find a bonita. Only a few goggles came back with obvious snapper nibbles. We never found the bigger muttons, just a few barely legal, yellowtails, a big trigger, and a mutant porgie. There were big kings skying all day, we teased a few peanut mahi with poppers on some nice weedlines, and jumped a huge sail with the last goggle put out on a flat line. Probably should've fished the top in the morning, in hindsight. Also, muttons were full of crabs. Next time... |

Shouldn't you have been working?
Sounds way better though! I fly out for Panama Friday afternoon. They have been going off all month; Dude caught a 54 lbs dorado on a fly rod this week, released a bunch of blacks between 300-500 lbs (marlin in case any nsr trolls are over here) and a ton of sail and rooster. Haven't heard how the rooster tourney went yet though. Wahoo aren't out of the question if they've had good rains and there is runoff. ------------------------- Specializing in sarcasm and condescending rhetoric since 1971. |

Unfortunately with all of the rain last month they didn't get as much work completed on the new boat as they wanted, so they're just shipping it to Panama City and doing the work down there. I imagine he's going to be too busy, but we'll see. ------------------------- Specializing in sarcasm and condescending rhetoric since 1971. |

We were fishing mostly 80-90' between Lake Worth and Jup inlets. We found out later the big muttons were found in shallower spots to the north. Sail bite was in 80' just north of Jup. Commercials were hitting the kings hard in about 120.
Oh! Forgot to mention, the Osearch vessel was anchored just outside the Jup inlet in 50'. |
