Water levels have dropped a foot or so and giant bass are gorging on shad. Everything from 2 inch to one lb gizzard and threadfins. Getting 75 fish and more on artificials. Go get em boys, gonna be a fantastic spawn. Lots of fat girls with green tails roaming and feeding

Dang! sounds awesome, you ever try any of the big swimbaits like the trout style the guys out in Cali use?

Crazy some of them are like 100$ lures, I think its mostly novelty but interesting none the less.

I have some handpours, 6 to 8 inch but found the ZMan big saltwarer swimbait works better at a fraction of the cost. 6 /0 hook let her rip

My son and I have been hitting the neighborhood ponds. Pulled out a 5-6 pounder and we were stoked. Not sure of the weight exactly but that one made me buy a scale. We caught one half the size roughly and it weighed almost 3lbs.

We are just getting into really figuring out the bass fishing as he is only 5. And I grew up hunting not fishing.

Cheaterfiveo - Do you run the stickmarsh guides? We may have spoke on the phone a few months ago in regards to gettin my son out on a lunker.

The bass were schooling and blitzing bait on the day before the cold front and the day after.

Fishing was also good the last few days, maybe the water cool down got the bait moving?

I got a big one yesterday on a jig with plastic craw, a good bigger bass lure.

Nice!

Yeah, yesterday they weren't hitting RattleTraps like before, they weren't really chasing, most of the catches I saw were on black worms like you, but I was out to catch a bigger one with big jig/craw, blue/black.

Got him. At first tap/tap go to set hook, nothing, it happened again, nothing. I knew he was good size if he could suck a heavy jig in and out so quick, so I gave it a break for a bit, went at it again and hooked him. Not huge but nice, 5 maybe 6 pounds.

Dang that's sweet! I fish mostly ponds from shore, and cant fish a jig without it coming back a blob of algae unless I really rip it in.

My go to has always been baby bass super flukes, or super fluke magnums....big girls love magnums lol

Flukes are great and weed free.

I too fish from shore mostly and fish the larger lakes in Suntree/Vierra.

Sometimes I'll use my kayak but usually not.

Many of the areas have vegetation, but they're not usually "scummy" except some small patches against the shore on the windward side.

There are open areas with mussel(?) beds too, close to deeper water and submerged and above water grass/pads too.

I like to fish the deeper water below culverts and drainage pipes too, especially after heavy rain like we had a few days ago.

This bass was my only fish and it was below a cement water ramp that empties into the lake (no water was flowing down it).
