The grass is definitely coming back. Just look North on the Banana River coming over Pineda. Used to be a desert out there but now the grass seems to be coming back strong. Waded the flats the other night just across from the 2 islands and the water was crystal clear. So many stingrays and horseshoe crabs out there. Was disappointed with the fishing. Caught a bunch of small trout, ladyfish and a few catfish. Doesn't seem like there are big trout out there like there used to be...

As long as the grass comes back those baby trout will be able to hide from the freaking dolphins and we should be on track! ------------------------- I troll 2L.com to be a better person in real life |

We will see how the wet season treats us. That fertilizer people were putting down the last week of May has run off at this point. Grass greened up but it wasn't all assimilated, not with the heavy rain. Pyrodimium is really thick north of 520 in the Banana. Good for bioluminescence. Bad for plants and other stuff. DO at the monitoring station just north of the causeway has been low on the last couple of cloudy days and there are a few dead fish around. IRL in Rockledge/Cocoa still looks decent. Saw a huge Triple Tail next to a buoy last week all the way up near Cocoa. There were some massive black drum the other evening up on the surface poking around the pilings of one of the bridges. I've never seen drum swim on their sides like that before with their bellies against the pilings. They were right on the surface feeling among the barnacles and such with their barbels. Saw a big sea turtle the other night north of the bridge near a patch of grass that's trying to come in. First time since we moved down from DeLand in 2013 that there's been any visibility at all in mid summer. ------------------------- ... |

Fishing report from this morning on Facebook: Water just on the outskirts of the 1000 islands smells like a septic tank with dead fish floating everywhere.

Fish gulping air this morning in Cocoa Beach. Water looking a bit bloomy. Sux. Edit: Next day 20 or so drum dead in canal. Sadness. Edited: 08/24/2017 at 11:50 AM by Greensleeves |
