Yep, polyester resin and a series of molds.

I figured out how to do it with the left over resin from the zillion ding repairs I did.

AWESOME!!!!

More details please!

So did you make the molds, how'd you make the skirts, "eye" inserts, etc.......  I've always thought about doing this, and these look GREAT!

There's some serious wahoo wackers in that bunch...

I actually have a catalog of stuff to make inshore soft plastics.  Keep saying I'm going to do it, but never do

I'm having to but the skirts, but they are so hard to get, I've been researching how to build them myself.

The mold material I use is called Dragon Skin. It's a platinum silicone that's tough as nails.

If you need info on materials call Reynolds Advanced Materials, they know everything.

I'm happy to help with anything else.

that things a stud...... To catch one on your own lure makes it even better!

so, where do you get the reflective eye insertsand skirts?

I'll probably be out of the water this winter (pending shoulder surgery) so I'll have time to tinker in the garage

are you popping those heads out of a soft mold I'm assuming?  how do attach the skirts?

sorry for all the questions, but this has me fired up

For everything reflective..

Skirts are a different issue. For a wholesale break, most companies want a large minimum order. If you don't use them within a year, they get sticky. Cousins out of California was the best deal, but their site is down. Captain Harry's in Miami has decent prices as does Bost lures.

The small skirts are glued on - Zap glue. The skirts on the larger lures are tied with rigging floss. If you are in Brevard, these guys have have the best rigging options. They carry skirts too, but I'm not a fan of Boone products.

And yes, the heads are popped out of the molds. Dragon Skin is tough stuff, the smaller molds will last a year or two.

Seriously, that is awesome.  Would you say they are more effective than regular lures?  The one in the pic is certainly awesome.

There are a host of great lures that have caught tons of more poundage than mine ever will; Bart's, Bomboy, the master Joe Yee... the list is long.

Will I get rich from them? Nope, but seeing wahoo, marlin and the others eat them sure makes me feel good.

I'm too busy with regular work to keep a site up and running, so now it's just a hobby, but I'm happy to sell, barter or trade. Are you looking for anything in particular?
