We use them all the time in Jacksonville area, they are super common in the muddy tidal creeks. Often referred to as tiger minnows or mud minnows, the best luck i have had are on the big ones, almost finger mullet size and therefore i call them STUD Minnows lol.......

I like them because they are easier to catch than mullet at times and hardier.

I fished the Inlet Friday night and it was a snook free-for-all. Billions of little Pilchards were walled up next to the south jetty and the snooks were blitzing them. Unfortunately, they were nearly impossible to catch because they were feeding on the tiny bait fish. It's hard to make your bait stand out when there are a zillion others in the area. Guys were soaking Mojarra with no luck, but a guy free-lining shrimp got 9 or 10, mostly in the 25 inch range.

I dumped my bait at dark and went to the west side of the bridge to wait for out going. As I waited, I watched bait get showered next to the rocks, but there was no big pops or airborne snook. It finally dawned on me that they might be flounder. I walked up for a closer look and just as I looked into the water, a fat flounder re-positioned itself in front of me. I went back to get bait, but it was gone. By the time I found some, the tide had changed and the bite was over.

It was pretty amazing. I've seen snook bust a million times, but this was orchestrated, they all went at the same time. 40 snook in the air at once is a site to behold.

What's the deal as of late? Haven't been down for a couple of weeks. Anyone doing any good? I heard the snapper bite dropped some.

Upwelling is on the way, if you time it right the snapper fishing can be incredible; including some Muttons.

I'd walk the north jetty with some Mojarra.
