Anyone know where I can throw over a few traps or freeline and catch some delicious blue crabs from the boat?   I live in the Melbourne area and thought this would be a great activity to amuse the kids on the weekend boating adventure.  Thanks!

Try a dock or bridge near an inlet, but only on the incoming tide. Ask around at bait shops. The season is June to August. This time last year at the #1 spot in New Smyrna people were catching 4 dozen and up each day. This year the crabs haven't shown up. Last Wednesday I checked it out and no one had caught any. I have no idea why. Maybe just in NSB or at this particular spot or people keeping females with egg sacs or something happened to their spawn. Good luck.

We put some traps off a dock at the mouth of the EauGalli river...

Caught a handful of BlueCrabs... the were gross... they had black goo in their claws and legs... Never saw anything like it... a fungus? it looked like lumpy black paint... I'm afraid to even eat the fish in the area any more...
