Video is a little blurry from the rain on the lense, but you get the picture.

Great video.  I have been trying for tarpon for last 3 weeks in Sat Beach on the kayak and can't seem to hook up.  Caught a million whiting.  What are you using for bait?  Are you freelining on top or sinking to the bottom?

I Sabikied a live pogie, then freelined with 80lb flourocarbon. I think there's something about the rain that really gets them juiced up. The first one hit within 30 seconds and was only a few feet from the yak (I can't cast the big rod so I drop and paddle away). The second one (in the video) only took a few minutes before he slammed it. Good luck!

Nice, thanks for the info.  I agree, always seem to be nailing the bait before these afternoon storms.  I am not as brave as you going out in those storms though!  WIll have to get back out there after this bout of wind and rough seas.

Not so much bravery as ignorance maybe. I just didn't think the storm was gonna get that violent, but once I had him on, I didn't want to quit. I guess one of the condo folks called the popo on me cause when I got back there was a firetruck and the police department waiting for me with the stink eye.

Bro you had a lightning rod in your hand. Nice fish and crazy video, but you are lucky you didn't get hit.

Snook and Tarpon both get juiced up by rain. Since they both handle brackish and fresh water , I am wondering if temporary surface salinity changes from the rain cause it.
