So, my dad and I take the boys out in the outrigger to paddle around and fish the Indian River today.     I spot a lone bobber floating in the distance.    I tell Evan "Cool, a free bobber" and we paddle over to it.     I reach for it and it takes off away, but under water.         We start laughing like "game on", something different today.      We chase it back and forth a while and can never get very close again.     I then cast a small spoon and catch the line just below the bobber and reel back in, to then finish hand-line a nice medium catfish.      My dad was following us in his kayak and we all had good laughs.      Nothing worthy caught to eat today, and we let him go free from his exercise equipment......still good times.              -Aloha

Thats great when something like that happens. I have a similiar story:

I was snook fishing when I got snagged on something. It was giving a little bit, so I figured my bait had just swam around some random crap on the bottom. Anyways, I ended up reeling up a fishing reel complete with a way over slot bull red on the line. Heh. I wonder what the odds of things like this actually are? I probably should have bought a lotto ticket that day.

I was casting at the end of Jackson Street - across from Samson's island. I snagged and reeled in a pole with a small shimano reel on it. The pole was done, but the reel cleaned up real nice and works to this day. Good quality stuff, because it all looked to have been in the drink for at least a week or two.

Fishing at Lake Washington and had a stringer of 3 nice size crappie in the water. All of a sudden the stringer starts floppin' around like crazy, smashing up against the boat. I grab hold and yank it up...............9.5 lb. Hawg Bass ate the whole frikkin' mess! Still the biggest bass I (n)ever caught...

Fun story..doesnt take much to amuse me...

Im sorry butI have to one up all of you...

Buddy says lets fish the spillway for snook its been going off, after work(bartending, old days). So he is on in the first 10 seconds. im thinking damm it is going off. He proceeds to land a 20lbs tarpon but i look closer and i tell him look at this!!! the tarpon had broken somebody off and had like 100lbs leader coming out of his mouth with a swivel attached. My buddys life bait hook went thru the swivel and he landed the fish. How bout that one

.. and the fishing was not going off, not another bite....

When I was barely a teenager, I was fishing for bluegill in the neighborhood lake using a telescoping rod and bread. I decided to try and "cast" the bread vs dropping it by the dock. I caught a little fish (couldn't see what it was) and when it got close to the dock.... WHAM!!!, a 5-6lb bass ended up swallowing it and getting hooked.

Never thought I would catch a bass with bread. After that, I switched to lures and never caught another bass out of that lake.

Years ago I was fly fishing for trout on opening day in Stoney Creek in central PA.  I was drifting a nymph deep under dark ledge and catching a few small ones now and then.  Once when I went to pick the line up for another cast it went tight.  I felt something heavy on the line and saw a silver flash way down deep.  It was looking like the 6 mile walk to fish remote waters was going to pay off with a trouphy rainbow.  It really did feel like it was fighting, but when I got it up it turned out it was a 6 pack of 16 oz cream ales.  A rainbow it was not, but a trophy catch none the less.

was fishing a flat and saw a "flats equalizer".  I was going to slowly trolling motor up to it and grab it.  It took off when I got close.  After it settled I casted over to it and ended up catching 2 nice reds.  Not the one on the float, but 2 others that were apparantly hanging with him.....
