The Jack Crevalles are all over and they aren't the small ones. Of course, there are other species running the beaches too, but the JCs seem to be the most abundant and I am a sucker for a good fight from the beach.

I caught a JC the other day off Juno Beach that was easily 25+ lbs. and after he hit, he just hugged the bottom to the point I actually thought I had hooked a small shark. I got it on a 2 oz. Crocodile spoon (w/ holographic sticker on it, which I swear makes a difference ... adds to the shine!). Sorry no pic.

Point = JCs are a ton of fun for cheap catch-and-release surf action.

If surf fishing for JC is beneath you (for some reason I wouldn't understand), hook one and hand the rod to your kid for a fight he/she she'll remember forever.

WIthout pictures..............................................

Reeling in a monster jack like that is truly great fishing.  I thought I had a whale once and in the ocean, at least you can't get wrapped around the piling.

JC's are a blast to catch, one is enough at 25lbs!  You feel like Popeye after reeling one of those slobs in.   Good fun fishing for sure.  I will have to give them a go with my new waxwing jig, thing casts a mile.

I know, I know ... no pics = didn't happen. But, really, it happened. I had been messing around, trash surfing the waist-high, inside, low-tide, shore pound and kept seeing schools of 4-5 large JCs cruising trough the waves, and decided it was time to run get the rod from my car and give it a go. On what was probably my fourth or fifth cast, the battle was on. No camera/phone on me ... I'll try and do better . I do, however, have several witnesses.
