I Just read up on The New Surf Park that will be opening up in Long Island NY. Looks Like they are making thisa Country Club with diffrent levels of membership. Each level has there own perks and or lack there of.  A platinum membership for the whole Family is 50,000 pluse a yearly dues of $20,000  Gold $20,000 and $8,000 a year. Silver is $10,000 and $5,000 a year. Bronze is $5,000 and 3,500 a year. Bronze only allows you to surf in the off hours.  Are you ready for the whole " Country Club " Surfing thing? Wall Street Masters of the Universe can have pool side cocktails while theri Board caddy waxes their boards. Platinum mebers can snake waves from those further down the Totem Poll. No More Surfing with the Riff Raff.  Sad to see what Surfing is becoming.

Yea. Why go to the ocean that is polluted, got nasty creatures and you get sand in your car. Just go to the club. Very American.

The Country Club Surfer:
Buys a nice shiny surfboard, straps it onto the Yule Surf Racks on their "insert upscale foreign car manufacture" with specialty surfer plates and voila you are a now a cool guy driving around town. The still shiny, un waxed and undinged board only comes off when the car is being detailed.

Dig a bit deeper into the surf scene up there - which has as long a history as Floridas - and you can read about a sleazy surf shop owner who has kissed major Wall Street hipster surfer ass to buy up all beachfront property facing one of the East Coast's best breaks - Ditch Plains - and is attempting to restrict access to such a point as to turn it into their own private beach and break

Coming to a surf break near you - as the affluent hipster surf wanna-be types ($$$) want their slice of paradise

They can have it, they still won't be able to read the ocean or adapt to anything but ideal conditions.
