Soft racks with rain-gutter or roof-lip attachment, $10

Da Right Style board bag, $20

Bag has safely transported 3 boards to CR and Peru with glass-on fins, could probably do 4 potato chips with the fins out, but basically a double-board bag with plenty of room for extra padding.

I've always protected rails w/ air-conditioning foam, and decks with a foam exercise/yoga mat.

A bit awkward though, as the openings are on the ends. One compartment on one end, other compartment opens on the other end. Kind of a pain sliding in a waxy board or boards with a rubber nose guard.

Can also serve as a sleeping bag.

I'm interested in the rack for a trip. Do they work on most rental cars

Sorry to say, but I don't know! It's been a long time since I've used them, and I vaguely only remember using them on cars with rain gutters, which a lot of newer cars don't have.

I'll attach a close-up picture if that helps.

If the rain-gutter clips don't work, you could just let out a couple extra inches, tuck the slack inside the cab above the car doors, and them tie them together inside the car with a cheap tie-down.

Edit: Added pics of fit on a 2009 Scion and 2013 VW. Looks like they'd work, but you might want to add a shred of cloth or electrical tape or something soft to avoid scratching the car. You could also add another tie-down inside the car as described above for safety.

Even though it's only 1 board wide, we managed to stack about 3 bags (7 boards) on top of a Nissan Sunny.

And I might trade for $10 in credit toward that recumbent bike if you still have it.

The bike sold a couple weeks ago. Thx for the up front assessment of the rack.
