Not to be "picky" but I believe it is a Garrard turntable, not Garrand.

Had several. If I still listened to my over 300 albums I might be interested, but
now it seems my albums have (hopefully or will) become vinyl collector items.
Just have to list, categorize, inspect and grade, etc etc...

Anyway, you might want to change your eBay, YouTube, and Craigslist postings...and this one also.
If someone is searching for Garrard, they might miss this one.

I could be wrong though, if so disregard and free bump to the top.

I'm not familiar with specific record players, but I do need something to play a large collection of 78's.  Have you played really old school records on it?  I imagine the arm needs to be a bit heavy to work well.  I bought a cheap player with a USB with the intention of recording, but it's terrible.

If you're playing 78's you might want to get a 78 cartridge.

Different from the 33/45, they're mono and the stylus is physically wider too.

Here's a bunch for $50-$100.  The Shure is probably the best bang for buck.

Bump for vinyl!

Most of the newer players are junk & not as well built like players from the 60's - 80's. I have not played 78's on it only 33's & 45's. Speed works for the 16's & 78's & the needle on this is reversible to play 78's on it. Reply thru craigslist if interested.

And as tom said, you may want to get a 78 cartridge for the 78's, I am unsure if you can just flip the needle & use the same cartridge that I put on, I have no expierence with 78's. You could always tape a few pennies on top of the arm and/or adjust the tracking force of the arm, that may work without having to get a cartridge.

Finally went to look at your cl post and wow, what a cool old player.

Yes, flip the needle and your good to go for 78s on that one.

My suggestion for the 78 cartridge was toward Andy

who said his USB table sounded bad on 78s,

I thought it might have a 33/45 width needle.

Tracking weight is cartridge specific.  Many carts track at 2-3 grams and a penny weighs 2.5g, so

don't do the penny thing if you want to keep the albums.

Bump for vinyl!

Glad you're happy bro You can always get some bigger speakers if you want more sound. I had a pair of Realistic Optimus 9's hooked up to it...sound will be limited though due to small preamp, but it still rocked!
