Hate to see that. I'll get my wife on it. What time and where? Probably inevitable, but it's worth a try.

Not cool. Working people can't afford housing and they want to build condos for speculators.

I'd guess that the vast majority of SB residents would be against this. This has to be a politician driven thing where they are not caring about the will of the people. At very least they could bribe us. No property taxes and free beer. As it is we'll get nothing.

I think the city wants to have the tax revenue, but it would change the character of the town.

I'd be happy to see bipartisan resistance.

Cole, no there isn't. Saw the new development on S. Courtenay Pkwy in south Merritt Island, starting price for new home...$500,000. Wonder what income will qualify you for a 60 year mortgage

I saw that, they are putting in something like 37 homes on a 15 acre plot so that is about 15k sq.ft. of lot after the roads and infrastructure. Hear they are actually in the 580k range. If they are using ICF construction and making the houses really, really nice...maybe. Also, hope the height limit in Sat Beach is upheld. Cocoa Beach went through that a decade ago and I think the height limit is now something like 83', thanks in a large part to the Green Party Vice Mayor at the time, and he took a lot of heat over that.

you can still buy a house a block or two from the beach for under 300k. pretty much the only place in florida you can still do that. some south patrick homes transplanted as is same distance from beach to other communities in state would be 1+ mil

We are still at four stories I believe, but the extra height of ac units and whatnot have been given some leeway.

We need to press them tonight on adding a max height of 85', which is still a lot. The way it reads now there is no max height and we know that will be taken advantage of in the future.

I think that is where Cocoa beach started, but the city got sued by developers and it didn't stick, so the next time around the height was shortened even more. Long story short, in the end it ended up being four stories.

I did go, would rather sit in my chair with the dogs and wife but sometime, as my Dad said, there are somethings in life you have to do. Not sure they like to see me coming but when there are issues that strike a nerve I have to get off my ass and go. I was disappointed there were not more people but such is life.
