Israel wants to use this as a basis to start a war with Iran. Saudi Arabia just got exposed on the type of asymmetrical warfare that Iran is capable of and thinks that its US weaponry has been rendered obsolete because of it. They are right. Putin is their to light a candle and if Putin can provide the solution to the Iranian drone strikes, the Kingdom will go with him. Israel wants a destabilized Middle East to wage war on Iran without the US dictating the rules.

Putin probed trump's weaknesses and found an individual that he could use to advance Russian interests. Russia was interested not in becoming a world leader and power broker, but dragging the western institutions into chaos and conflict to opportunistically profit from.
