Yep, clearly a racist act. Black men should never have to be on jury duty if they don't want to. To require otherwise is racist to the highest degree.

That's a bridge too far for most racists. They like to conceal their racism in reasons that otherwise justify their actions. This juror got ten days in jail and a years probation until the media caught this and humiliated the judge.

Everyone should embrace jury duty; that could be you up there on trial. That said, if everyone who failed to report for jury duty was punished it would be one thing, but they don't. 10 days is excessive, and if that's done selectively then it's unjust.

The judge who I know very well is taking a huge hit. He's in the impossible position of attempting to have people understand that he was not racist with this absurdly harsh sentence, he was just drunk with power and using an individual to send a message to the general group of potential jurors that a forty minute delay for a trial to seat an alternate juror was worth a job, a clean criminal record and 10 days of freedom followed by a year of probation and 150 community service hours. It's not going well.
