LOL That's what all the geezers said about going to the moon too... oh oops you probably don't believe that happened LOL
They opposed regulating CFCs. Said that would be an irreparable economic catastrophe. Ozone hole is shrinking. Economy seems okay (until the perfect storm of tariff and economic stimulus related inflation causes the fed to raise interest rates and the slowed growth triggers a sell off and the stock market crashes and the government debt is already maxed out so it has no leverage for a stimulus to blunt the decline and all the idiots scream for austerity at exactly the time that government austerity will worsen an economic contraction...). Yeah, we are fucked but it won't be pushing for energy with less negative externalities that does us in.

They said that cap and trade for sulfur emissions was stupid and economic disastrous idea but radical liberals bent on destroying capitalism. They said that acid rain was 100% natural and that one volcanic eruption put out more sulfur than all of man kind in all of history combined. Yet we cut sulfur. We cut smog forming pollutants. Streams in Shenandoah National Park that were in an area without buffering bedrock were damn near lifeless when I was a biotech there 20 years ago. Those have seen small increases in pH and more bugs and fish since I was there because there's less acid deposition from the sky. Less ozone alert days and more days in summer when you can look west from Hawksbill and actually see the Appalachians on the other side of the great valley.

Just because one thing might be true, doesn't mean everything is true, to state the obvious. Going 100% renewable in 10 years would destroy the country as we know it. Look, guys, give it up. No one with any knowledge in this area would support that policy. Moreover, even the House wouldn't pass a bill to this effect. This is a case of a dumb, ignorant twit spouting off about stuff she hasn't the faintest idea about. It is what you get when you have ignorant voters falling for impossible utopian promises.

She's not the newest, Dems picked up two more seats today. 32 seats flipped now I think.

Bullshit.
It'll energize our economy.
New investment, jobs, spinoffs
.

Show me that you understand the science, the range of projected scenarios.
Zero net corbon emmissios are vital to minimizing global warming to less than 1.5 C. If we don't it's gonna cost us a lot.

Yet with such a large field to choose from, Pelosi is still going to be your speaker of the house? Am I the only one that sees the complete idiocy of that?

It is not science. It is economics. Moreover, there is absolutely nothing we can do to stop the temperature rise if that is what is happening. Nothing. That is, if the U.S. cut its carbon emissions to zero today, it would have no material effect on the temperature rise that you clowns are predicting. So, instead of spending trillions on a futile effort, we need to save it to deal with the consequences.

What is it they say about what to do when you find yourself a hole?

Dig faster and sell as much dirt as you can before it's too late?

I love when they put up her platform about Medicare for all, free college, support for LBGTQ and seniors, and over here on the left we're like "F Yeah!"

To me, it sounds like a kid in middle school, running for class president and promising kids free ice cream everyday and more days off.

Any of you guys currently doing prepaid college for your kids or investing money that will be used to pay for your kid's college? If so, then I don't have to tell you that the shit is far from free. In fact, it is really f'ing expensive. That being said, someone please explain to me how we are going to make a college education "free" for everyone. Do we just say that education is a right, much like healthcare, and that professors should agree to take a cut in pay, since this is something that every American is entitled to? Do we take the funding from another area? If so, where? Here is where I expect the Dems to automatically reply that it needs to be taken from the military. Here is where the Dems will say that we absolutely need to deprive our military of the necessary tools needed to keep our country safe so that Brax and Aubrey can get degrees in Golf Management and Art History.

That brings us to another question. Do we let kids get any degree they want? Do we pay for room and board? Do we pay for food?

If you don't have enough money to go to college but are driven enough to be there, then there are thousands of scholarships out there already. Hell, if you know where to look there are plenty of scholarships ready to throw money at you even if you do have the money.

What is wrong with Medicare for all?

Many nations have something similar.

I know, we don't have the money.

Judging from our deficit, it seems we have money for everything else though.

Here's a start, take back the tax break for the 1% who already couldn't spend what they had.

How do the other countries do it?

I know they are taxed more but.....the people make more too.

Look around, see those Canadian snowbirds here pulling their big RV homes with the big pickups.

How can those "socialists" afford anything?

Forget it, keep paying for those $6,000 deductible health plans that cost $1,000 per month.
