Feeling safer all the time. How is the Department of Ag in charge of background checks. You know what's great? You can leave a state where you don't like to pay taxes and get down here and get your concealed carry weapon quite easily. That's nice. |

So, that is disturbing. "...in February 2016 the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services stopped using the results from an FBI crime database called the National Instant Criminal Background Check System that ensures applicants who want to carry a gun do not have a disqualifying history in other states." The whole point of the application is to screen out people who have issues or history that show they are not good candidates to carry a deadly weapon. Not using the background screening results is beyond being neglectful or incompetent. Whoever was in charge of this should be fired and all the applications processed during that period should be re-reviewed.
