I know right? The thought that we can't trust the government and/or the media is batshit crazy, right? Its like, I just don't understand why anyone would be opposed to giving up their right to bear arms and have faith in their government to protect them, or have faith that the government is out for the best interest of the populace, and not those in power. I mean, screw history, right? At some point we have to have hope, and faith in humanity, and start trusting the government. Hell, why even be skeptical/critica at all?
Should we just have anarchy then and the company with the most money and most armed guards calls the shots since government is the root of all evil? Or maybe there's another position somewhere like a democratic republic or democratic socialism or some other system where there the government is a third party that is answerable to a broad spectrum of the population? ------------------------- ... |

Yeah, no shit. Huge multinational corporations own our government. Trump gives them everything they want. The few giant telecoms that have regional monopolies on broadband internet access got rid of Net Neutrality. Exxon-Mobile et al. got Pruitt, Zinke, Perry on the cabinet. Clean Water Act is being gutted. Huge tax cuts at the top end plus the promise of debt funded infrastructure spending that will got to those same corporations. No, we should hold elected officials accountable, and stop with the partisan blinders. Its not that hard, but it does require critical thought, and skepticism of "news" void of any facts. Or "news" that is just opinion pieces with an obvious bias/narrative. In your case, 1st step is realizing there is a liberal bias in mainstream media to begin with. The reason we are where we are is because of two "tricks" those who are power hungry employ on us. They are a combination of the following: 1. Controll opinion, and you control policy 2. It is easier to fool a man, then convince him he's been fooled. Its this combination that allows propaganda to work. As mentioned, 1st step in combating it is realizing the media is out to control opinion. We are a democratic Republic, by the way..... |
