George H Bush was the last of the patriot gentlemen to claim membership in the gop. I cannot imagine a man with his courage or commitment to his country in the gop today. Think about it, he promised no new taxes. Read my lips. Then it became obvious that there was a revenue shortfall that had to be paid and trickle down money was and still is a perpetual no show. He had to raise taxes, but in raising them, he knew he would be voted out of office. He was an encumbent. He could have very easily gone further into debt, lied about it and sailed through a re-election. But he was and is a good man, a patriot. He put his country first ahead of his needs and raised the taxes to pay for the bills now instead of letting them metastatize. That's a leader.

Yes, it's called "loyalty to the home team."
