So there is the answer. It's not mental illness, that's for sure.

Where in the hell did you deduce that?

IDIOT!

Look through all your posts, and count every time you've used the word idiot. Multiply it by 100k. That number is still not equivalent to the amount of your stupidity.

The real problem is that you genuinely are an IDIOT!

Nobody said they were 'insane'.

They have many mental disorders.

Criminally insane is very rare!

Are you STUPID?

I think so!

Had you of READ the above^^^^ you would have garnered this:

"All insanity is 'mental illness' BUT not all mental illness is 'insanity'!

Mental Illness Vs. Insanity
Ask Dr. Dombeck
Question:
What is the difference between mental illness and insanity?

Answer:
Mental illness is usually a broader and more inclusive term than Insanity. Insanity is usually reserved for describing severe conditions involving psychotic-like breaks with reality, while Mental Illness can include both severe and milder forms of mental problems (such as anxiety disorders and mild depressions).

The common factor in gun violence is the gun, more importantly, ready access to the gun.

Certainly we can take steps to make guns like the AR harder to get without interference with the second amendment.

Well of course the common factor in gun violence is the gun, but you aren't going to stop gun violence by going after the wrong guns. Hell, even for mass shootings, you are going after the wrong guns.

99 semi auto handguns in 67 different incidents
43 rifles in 35 incidents
29 shotguns in 23 incidents
23 revolvers in 18 incidents

Edit: Obviously the AR can do more damage quicker, but even taking them out of the picture, we still have a huge problem.

Also, there have been 4 bombings in a row. I think we should add those on the list of things we make illegal.

A student opened fire this morning at Great Mills High School in St. Mary's County, Maryland. (Caveat — details on these things are always sketchy this early.) Fortunately, before he did more than wound two fellow students, including the female he was specifically targeting, the school resource officer fired back and stopped the threat, killing the assailant. Obviously, having an armed officer on campus saved lives today — but only because he was willing to respond, unlike the Parkland, Florida, deputy.

The shooting this morning was most likely a known specific victim and not an indiscriminate attack. No one is against armed police SROs.

Handguns are by far the biggest killer in terms of overall numbers, but handguns have a more legitimate role in self defense (IMHO) and will be harder to regulate beyond universal background checks.

The AR/AK pattern rifles are unlikely to be used for defense barring extreme natural disaster or breakdown of civil law enforcement. They are far too easy to get given their heightened potential lethality.

They are the "low hanging fruit" of potential gun control.

Yes you did, but it was an op-ed and they were not forthcoming where they got their data from. It is more of an op-ed to sell the author's book.

Fair point regarding that article. There are others though.

What? Your statement is pure conjecture.

Also, school shooters often target people they know. There was even a case where a shooter didn't shoot on girl because she was nice to him before and instead killed the kid next to her. Just because it starts with someone they know, doesn't mean it ends there. Who knows what would have happened if a good guy with a gun hadnt taken the shooter out.

Well, yeah, hence the modifier "most likely".

I haven't noticed any; all I've heard were folks against arming school personnel.

If someone's going to be armed at my kids' school, I want that to be their full time job that they train for. Not professor plinker from PMRPC.
