Jacksonville was originally named "Cowford" but was renamed after President Andrew Jackson. In retrospect, they should probably go back to Cowford.

Another fun fact: Lee - Jackson (the Generals) Day was a holiday when I was kid in VA. When I was in grad school (I think) they merged it with MLK Day to fit the federal calendar making it, yep, Lee - Jackson- King Day. The world is a funny place sometimes.
