So the money is NOT slated IN ANY WAY slated to be invested in alternate energy and the money is in no way slated to be used to prepare in any way for the day when Fossil fuels are scarce...

Thats what I said to 3rdworld.

So we agree here, with carbon credits you can pollute as long as you want to and the Govment lets you. If it is more profitable to pollute than to fix it, you are allowed to keep doing that. AND I guess I can pollute the hell out of Florida as long as I have either bought carbon credits OR created carbon credits someplace else.

Carbon Credits:
Makes it moreover profitable to be more efficient because you can then sell credits on the exchange to companies that are polluters. Therefore, it creates incentives to invest in efficiency on both ends.

Carbon offsets:
Purchasing offsets directly offsets pollution, because the $ is used to restore forests, improve efficiency, replace old technology.

Follow the money indeed.

Who funded the Heartland Institute's wars against regulating CFC?

Who funded the Heartland Institute's war against cap and trade of sulfur with Rush Limbaugh repeating their false talking points? You know how they claimed waterbodies becoming acidic during the 19th and 20th centuries and losing their fish and amphibians was just a natural occurrance. They falsely claimed that one volcanic eruption (usually Mount St. Helens in their releases at the time) released more sulfur than all of man in all of the industrial era. They claimed that cap and trade of sulfur was just a liberal plot to wreck the economy to bring about communism.

Who funded the war against putting emmission controls on automobiles and trucks?

Who has been fighting the war against low sulfur diesel?

Follow the money.
