McDonald's Announces Automated Kiosks Replacing Cashiers, The Stock Market Loves It
By Mary Kate Knorr
10:00am  June 26, 2017

McDonald's just made good on their threat to go automated - the famous franchise plans to replace cashiers in 2,500 restaurants with digital order kiosks.
This promise has been a while coming, and shares have rallied 26 percent this year compared to S&P 500's 10 percent return.
Check it out (per IJR):
Because of the company's success and the fact that it employs so many young people, McDonald's has been a frequent target of the #FightFor15 minimum wage movement:

Many people have been warning that this was the logical outcome of demanding higher mandated wages for entry-level jobs that were never meant to be anything but that. Some couldn't wait to rub it in a little.

Give them jobs in coal. Coal is the future, not automation.

The words please and thank you are not in his vocabulary.

More like, moron, asshole, buttwipe, sphincter, fool.

He had to retire because he's not presentable in public. Only here.

"McDonald's is not planning to pare down its work force as it adds the new kiosks to restaurants.

The kiosks could, however, allow operators to move some workers away from cash registers and into the kitchen to help speed up customer service.

That could provide a major boost to franchisees who say they are understaffed and unable to handle busy meal traffic.

"Our competitors have six to eight people to run close to the same volume that we need 20 to 25 people for," one franchisee wrote in response to Kalinowski's survey."

I think this is great(not that I eat at mcdonalds often but great on road trips in the middle of the night) but I do go to Panera often and love the fact they have the kiosk......

no line, don't have to talk to anyone, can customize my order, don't have to have it read back to me, don't have to get offered to be a my Panera member, don't have to decline the bakery good for a dollar!

Automation is unstoppable, as is on-line shopping.

Major retailers are closing thousands of stores and it's all happening on Republican watch and you actually see this as a good thing?

I was right.

Retail models are changing; it's not political.

It's Amazon.
