Looking to do a 2 week motorbike trip across vietnam with my brother who is currently in China. Anyone have advice on cheapest airfare to vietnam, maybe even flying into somewhere in asia and then getting more local airfare?

Any advice appreciated.

My advice is to not go. Unexploded ordinances. Plus a population of people we either tried to kill or left to fend for themselves after we fled from those we tried to kill.

From what I hear, it's a rapidly modernizing and liberalizing culture full of friendly people who hold no ill will toward Americans.

They're very friendly toward Americans there, actually. Froth, I'll get some info for you in a bit.

I have a buddy that lives there as an English teacher. He loves it, never had any problems that I'm aware.

Google Explore Flights is a useful way to keep an eye on what's possible.  It can come up with unworkable suggestions, of course.  Under $900 to the former Saigon in August looks workable (United, ANA via Washington-Dulles and Tokyo-Narita).  That route to Japan is standard.

The main thing to do is sign up with www.scottscheapflights.com ($35 year) and get these daily alerts for all the wish list places you enter.  Obviously from the below, I entered Saigon (Ho Chi Minh Ctiy) and Hanoi and get these alerts at least once a week on low fares USA to HCMC or Hanoi.

The above comes from a America friend of mine who lives in Vietnam but flies to the U.S. often. If you want to know about anything else, let me know.

Listen to p.utins p.et pigblo discussing world travel. What a riot. A racist, misogynist, chumpf dirt misanthrope would surely know how to successfully negotiate travel in the third world.
Right, alt bright?
Yep, talk real loud, throw money at those rice eatin peons, call em boy and geisha. Tell em how merika is better in all respects, he's just here fo da ho's
And by all means, wear your Make Russia Great Again shirt, and merika first red goofus hat over your clown hair...im sure it will go well for you.

Or, you could do what actual world traveling water folks do: be polite, show class and respect. It will be returned.
Most of the population there wasnt born until well after the war, and would be happy to learn about our country. Make friends with divers, surfers, fishermen, we're pretty much the same all over the world.....
other than the chumpf scum.Yea, nice lil country ya got here, jest dont try to come to merika, y'all hear me.......
duuhhhh.....
