Chief Justice Roberts was expected to be a reliable "conservative". And he came thru for them 4 years ago, voting to gut the voting rights act, in part facilitating some of the electoral success that Republican efforts to limit minority voting have resulted in.

But he recently also demonstrated a increasing understanding of race issues in voting to overturn death sentence because of racist bullshit introduced in the trial:

Brennan Center

Made me think, a lot of "conservative" justices seem to have turned more compassionate and liberal with more time on the bench (Most of those who upheld women's rights to control their own bodies in Roe v. Wade were Republican appointees).

I can't think of a single liberal justice who grew more "conservative".
Gives me hope that Gorsuch might not turn out to be such a disaster either.

The law has a way of guiding the path.
