The bad manners of the campus left

A friend of mine on the subject:

So, I suppose that when we go do college tours for the girls in a few years, I'll go do the tour, talk to admissions and also make sure to sit in on a few speakers to see what kind of hooligan behavior is exhibited by their students and professors (awesome). NO WAY that I will allow my child and money to support this kind of thuggery. Free Speech is in peril and the killers are the "tolerant, enlightened, smarter-than-you elites" that can toggle from offended to offensive in a snap and will rationalize violence because they don't like how you think or what you have to say. This speaker's story of what happened to him is just par for the course, it seems.

Preach it sister. I couldn't agree with her more.

I hope that they escalate it further. They are driving more people into our camp with that sort of stuff, which is exactly what I want. Who in their right mind would vote for a party that supports this fascist mentality.

Free speech rules. Let Ann Coulter speak.

( Not that he has any thing relevant to say)

She can go speak in Livermore because there won't be safety issues.

These people are going into Berkeley for a reason.

Time for a gay pride parade in Birmingham?

"Berkeley should be the epicenter of the marketplace of ideas. Unfortunately, it has become the most intolerant place in America. I would feel more comfortable preaching for Sharia law in rural Mississippi than I would feel challenging the wage gap theory or speaking out against anti-Asian discrimination in admissions at Berkeley. In Mississippi, I would likely be ignored. Jeered at worst. In Berkeley, if you do not adhere to the Leftist orthodoxy, your speech is branded "hate speech," and out come the shock troops to physically attack you or anyone who wants to listen to you. "

It's Berkeley, and most of the bad mannered are not even students.
They allowed her speech, she decided to bail because it made more news for her.

I'm Ok with people shouting down racist pigs like milo and Spencer, those sorts should never have been invited to speak at a college.
Coulter is just a comedy act, and she got exactly what she wanted from this.

Free speech is in no peril, just because other free speech is louder.

Not an example at all, a fringe group of children that has little to do with the rest of left.
But I am tired of the privileged snowflakes on the campus right that can't handle even a little opposition to their idiocy.

You are wrong.

First, you are saying they are shouting down people when the truth is they are committing violence as well.

Using violence to silence someone is a violation of free speech in addition to the crime of the violence itself.

Even organizing a peaceful rally to shout out someone else and disrupt them exercising their freedom of speech can be considered a violation.

Feel free to argue with the Northern California ACLU

I don't condone any violence, they should be charged.
But there is very little of that, the bigger picture is just speech, heckling, opposition to bad ideas.

Very little? You must not be paying attention.

I have no problem with those ACLU guidelines, the people that I know that organize protests follow them well, even when provoked by bussed in Trumpists.

The smaller episodes don't even make the national news, so unless you are following local news or other source, you wouldn't know.

The violence is real and it isn't stopping. Violence doesn't even have to cause physical harm. Isn't it still a violent act when an ANTIFA member snatch a bottle of water from a disabled veteran in a wheelchair and dumps it all over him?

Threatening violence on people is a violent act as well when they are standing in front of them and yelling in their faces.

My personal favorite video of recent violence is when a group of ANTIFA bite off a bit more than they can chew and get their asses handed to them by the people they assaulted. The funniest part of it was when one ANTIFA gets unmasked and another ANTIFA dude smashes him in the face with his skateboard thinking he was the other side.

antifa is not "the campus left"

There is plenty of violence from the right also.

I realize that, but I am a moderate and to me you are basically excusing this violence because the right is guilty of it too. That doesn't fly with me at all.

Oh and there are sure a lot of college students involved with ANTIFA there to separate the two imo.

Yep. And we all know that progs are responsible. That's one of the big reasons we won this last election ("law and order" ring a bell?) and will win more in the future. As I said, I just hope that they keep it up. This is a gift to conservatives.

I am not excusing violence miker, those people should be charged with crimes.
I am frustrated that the discussion of it has taken over the narrative and overshadowed the fact that some "conservative" students though that milo and spencer were people that ought to be speaking in an academic setting, and how these INTIFA jerks are now portrayed as the face of the campus left. They are not.

I agree that ANTIFA's stupidity (and the way the corporate media are playing it) are gifts to "conservatives".
