okay, you guys are confusing me here.  First he's a communist liberal that failed to abolish the second amendment and bring socialism back like a bunch of conservatives on here said he was going to do, including one trippy thread about claiming some wierd clause of a police state or some such thing and doing a third term? I think that was one of the tv talking heads influences.   Now he's a capitalist and there's consternation about that.  Next thing you know you'll rant about a president giving money away to the park service. How stupid is that.  They should be cutting down the damn trees in parks like Canada does!

Wall St. types are generally all about ROI, but they're not above spending money on perks for themselves. Having a former POTUS speak at your private club's dinner function is a pretty big deal. To them it was a drop in the bucket, mostly of other people's money anyway.

There is no obvious motive of tit-fot-tat or any other impropriety; it really just boils down to a bad decision for the Obama image and brand.
