Nothing complicated. Just employ conservative values.

The flip side of this is that if you wish to discourage upward mobility, implement prog policies, which is what they have done with the predictable result.

That's why progs always fail. They ignore the evidence.

"How did Utah manage, then? Well, one viable theory is "it's Mormon." Churches form a sort of leveling community. No matter what we do outside, we're all equal before God."

A quick round of applause for the Mormons everyone!

What 'evidence" did I ignore?
(my comment was only partly a joke)

Most of the principles that succeed in Utah hardly match what passes for "conservatism" these days. And their experience and problems are hardly typical of those faced by most of the rest of the nation.

But yes, there is some good stuff there that the people that claim they are "conservative" could do well to pay attention too.

Did you really read that article at all?

Read it carefully last night and then thought it over. Read it again today and posted it. What would you like to know about it?

Why you don't get that much of what is actually working there actually are "progressive" policies.
Mormons may believe a lot of odd stuff, but they do take Jesus's words a lot more seriously than many "Christians" when it comes to taking care of each other.

I have a fair bit of respect for her, she seems at times a real libertarian, vs. a "conservative".

Did you really just mention social services and Conservatives in the same sentence? Talk about oil and water. I'm pretty sure the Utah plan is a one off, not that we shouldn't pay attention to it...there are definitely some good ideas

The truth? Modern conservative ideas almost put us in another depression.

Not to mention Kansas went whole hog with established conservative principles and how is that working out?

Shall we compare Kansas to California?

Yes, conservatives give more to charity than progs. Progs are cheapskates. They are only for giving away other people's money. Yes, let's compare Kansas to California. Or we could compare California to any number of red states that have reduced taxes. Did you know that Kansas isn't the only state to "go whole hog with established conservative principles?" Florida, for examples, is another one.

Florida?

http://www.newsherald.com/news...g-tight-budget-in-2017

Part of the problem is that a series of tax cuts pushed into place primarily at the urging of Scott has resulted in less money coming into state accounts.

Tspanks generalities show he has to resort to labels (that he makes up) to make order of his bizarre worldview.

Kansas' budget shortfall continues to grow while CA is making inroads on theirs.
