Coal jobs are gone. Switch corporate subsidies to education; be it trade or advance degree.
Handing free money to people that already have it makes zero fcking sense. ------------------------- I was right. |

The economics has decided, natural gas is cheaper and more effective, hence the reason it has replaced coal. A natural gas pipeline is being set through central Florida at this very moment.

The PiC decided. Now, economics will decide. Question though. If coal is dead in any event, why are you progs raising such hell about this? According to what you are saying, this will affect nothing. ------------------------- I :heart; Q |

I spend my life in the outdoors, both in private and professional. In essence, trump is killing the environment out of spite and to bring back something that no longer exists.
That is my concern. Do you actually believe that allowing increased pollution into rivers is a fcking good thing? ------------------------- I was right. |

The free market doesn't care about human life. There's nothing wrong with capitalism balanced with a humane morality. |

The PiC decided. Now, economics will decide. Question though. If coal is dead in any event, why are you progs raising such hell about this? According to what you are saying, this will affect nothing. You don't pay very good attention some times, so I will spell it out again for you, not like this will help you get it. It won't do much to increase coal miners jobs because they were lost to automation, not regulation. It won't do a lot to increase coal production because the market for coal is slowed by natural gas & fracking. The market doesn't need or want more coal. LOL @ "economics will decide" This is a perversion of the market, a subsidy, a favor to contributors. Horrible news for a free market economy. It won't increase our "energy independence" because that is meaningless jargon. It is a lifeline to the coal mine owners, will allow them to keep producing a little longer. It will stall the very real need to quickly reduce coal production. ------------------------- "The truth is incontrovertible. malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is." -Sir Winston Churchill |

I repeat, if no more coal will be mined - which is what you contend, why will this "kill millions?" And how will owners get rich if no coal is being mined or, if it is, it can't be sold? What subsidies? ------------------------- I :heart; Q |

No less will be mined either as a result of this.
And that's what needs to happen Coal subsidies ------------------------- "The truth is incontrovertible. malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is." -Sir Winston Churchill Edited: 03/31/2017 at 05:47 AM by WG |

The PiC decided. Now, economics will decide. Economics says you dump all the slurry into the valley and let the stream below flow with acid and metals. Economics says you discharge all the sulfur you want into the air. That is unless you put a price tag on the pollution.
Incorrect. The jobs that are gone are not coming back. Coal will still be mined and there may even be an uptick in tons hauled if allowing the producers to freeload on the commons makes the sale price a bit lower. That uptick in production will come at a massive pollution cost but will produce few new jobs.

I repeat, if no more coal will be mined - Same coal. More pollution. Same coal. More pollution. Same coal. More pollution. If gross take stays the same and the cost goes down because you are dumping the negative externalities on the commons...
Pretty sure there's a graph of production linked in this thread that puts the lie to this assertion. ------------------------- ... |

The courage and the wisdom to pollute streams, tear the tops off mountains, pollute local streams, create acidic waters in other states that are devoid of life, rain that takes the paint off cars, all for a commodity that is more expensive than our abundant supply of natural gas.
The cowardice and the idiocy to secure votes in Appalachia. It worked. |

Awesome!
Back to the good ol' days! Maybe he can bring back polio and prohibition! You know how many jobs that'd create? |
