Well, , , , an "academic type" I know who is into this kinda thingy, , , , says that the new plan is not too good for everybody, not too bad for everybody, on an "across the board" level; good for some, bad for others. It may, or may not, pass. But, what the "haters" don't get is that the ACA is beginning to get into deep financial trouble and the down side is that the current Admin, House and/or Senate aint going to do much to fix it, , , , it will die a slow, miserable, death and all blame will be put upon those who created it in the first place. There has not been so much as a "peep" in the MSM about the ACA's "short comings".

We all understand its shortcomings. Here's an observation from an academic type (me): it'll be a lot easier to make it worse than make it better.

Apart from a couple of tweaks there is only one way to make it better: single payer.

That's difficult though, because it's not good for the economy to scrap an entire sector in one swell foop. The insurance boys. This academic type is a pragmatist. I don't want to see that segment of the economy get "jenga'd".

I think most of the shortcoming of ACA are due to it being based on a traditional private insurance market model. Make single payer available to all.

The sad part really is that the R's worked hard to sabotage ACA from day one, primarily for political reasons. That's why they are stuck where they are, they convinced the unwashed masses that the individual mandate and ACA overall were evil, and now they can't walk it back without exposing their cynicism.

Everyone needs health insurance, it's not something any reasonable American should choose or not. Unless we repeal EMTALA and make it clear that those people will die in the street before we spend a public dime on them.
