AAFES is honored to offer this well-deserved benefit to those who raised their right hands, took the oath and served our Nation with honor," said AAFES Director/CEO Tom Shull. "There are many generations of service members who have not been properly recognized for their sacrifices. The Veterans Online Shopping Benefit (VOSB) acknowledges their service and welcomes them home."

So tell me, retirees and active people, are the savings still that much, should we jump on this?

Cheap booze and cigs!

My buddy said the fishing selection on PAFB is pretty legit!

AAFES still sells cigs?
That's disturbing.

PAFB has a nice selection of guns as well if you are eligible to come on base.

If you are not active, reserve, retired or dependent, you will not be getting onto the base.

Online is a great idea for those who served but didn't retire out.

Nice! Thanks for the link WG! I bookmarked it and hopefully I will remember.

It's only for one day but if the savings are like they were at the PX, it's definitely worth it.

Not true - -
- - I am neither active, nor reserve, nor retired nor a dependent, but working
for the government, I have base access.
(But you do not need base access to have this benefit - - it's an online shopping benefit)

Not just one day. It is an online benefit that starts on November 11, 2017 (Veterans Day)

Starting in November, honorably discharged veterans will be able to access the online
stores of military exchanges like the one on Redstone Arsenal. The new benefit will
not apply to the actual brick-and-mortar stores
, but veterans will be able to shop at
any service's exchange website. The online benefit will be available on Veterans Day, November 11.

Press Operations
Release No: NR-010-17
Jan. 13, 2017

The veterans online shopping benefit will be effective this Veterans Day, Nov. 11.

While shopping privileges exclude the purchase of uniforms, alcohol and tobacco
products
, it includes the Exchange Services' dynamic online retail environment
known so well to service members and their families. This policy change follows careful
analysis, coordination and strong public support.

Beginning November 11, 2017, we will once again be able to serve honorably
discharged Veterans online through a lifelong exchange benefit.

Still, the saving could be around 20%, although if you "shop around online" you can probably match the pricing but, one sweet thing is that there is NO sales tax.

Does base access also allow you to buy in the PX, commissary?

Government workers and contractors can't buy in them. The BX and Commissary check ID's.

If you are working DoD, DoE, contractor, etc. with base access overseas you can usually access the base exchange services.
